FAQ

Zone Of Questions and Answers

F.A.Q.

What is www.kalimeratravel.com website and what does Customize & Book button mean?

www.kalimeratravel.com is an innovative platform where you can design and customize a trip to Greece or organize an event in Greece, according to your interests. You are free to explore Greece through quality customizable programs and event suggestions as well as through hand-picked accommodation options and professional concierge services. From the convenience of your home and just in front of your laptop’s screen, you can click the Customize & book button and personalize everything. All aspects and different options (transportation, accommodation, see & do, extra services, etc) included, are controlled by you. So, do you want to add or change services on the program? Do you want to immediately proceed to the Purchase/Enquiry? Or maybe would you like to save these arrangements to your account for a later action? The answer is YES to all! You can do all that on www.kalimeratravel.com platform.

Selecting dates, persons, services and further options in www.kalimeratravel.com website:

While you select a trip or event that you like and you set the preferred dates, the number of persons, the services (plan, go, stay, see & do, support, etc), you'll see the total prices increase or decrease on a real-time basis. You can see the analytical cost per service as well as the total summary of your choices. You can add or remove options according to your plans and budget and that’s it!

Can I choose a hotel with specific amenities and facilities in Greece through KALIMERA?

Certainly YES! Please enter kalimeratravel.com under the section “STAY” and filter your results based on your criteria (non-smoking rooms, Wi-Fi internet, Fitness center, etc).

What information can I expect to find in a KALIMERA trip or event?

Each and every trip/event includes dynamic sections such as Overview, Highlights, Information, Program & venue details, Accommodation descriptions, Destinations guide, Policies, etc.

We break down the most important aspects of the services to make sure you have the total picture before booking.

I can’t find what I need in your website. What should I do to get a proposal/offering from KALIMERA?

We only need an email from you regarding the dates you wish to travel and whether they are flexible or fixed, the number of persons (adults & children) you are travelling together, the number of rooms and the preferred style of accommodation (category/type/location/etc) as well as the themes you are interested in (culture/gastronomy/sun & beach/romance/adventure/etc). On the other hand, if you want to organize an event in Greece, please write us a few words about what’s on your mind. Having a good first feedback from you, will allow us to plan fully tailor made services especially for you and your party.

Who travels with KALIMERA? Who chooses KALIMERA in order to organize an event in Greece?

We appeal to travelers of all ages such as singles, couples and families from all around the world who wish to experience Greece in depth.

At the same time, companies do choose KALIMERA for making their event happen in Greece due to our professional approach & methodology for of each service we offer.

We attract groups of all types; families and individuals with special interests, corporate incentive gatherings as well as organizations throughout the globe.

Repeated travelers/attendees with their friends and happy or colleagues is our main clientele.

Most of our clients are repeated travelers who recommend us to their friends. Furthermore, a continuously expanding network of travel companies, corporations and organizations throughout the world trust KALIMERA for a professional management of their groups & MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions, events) business in Greece.

Do you arrange honeymoon trips in Greece?

Certainly YES! KALIMERA offers unique honeymoon packages. You may visit our Romance/Celebration travel experiences where we have gathered the most of romantic Greece and start dreaming about your own honeymoon trip with KALIMERA. Feel free to choose & customize one of the offered packages or just send us an email at info@kalimeratravel.com to plan it together!

Do you offer “accommodation only” bookings?

Again, it’s a YES! But we only offer hand-picked accommodation selections throughout Greece that truly match our aesthetic and service criteria.

What is a single supplement?

Rates offered in some of our programs are based on a room sharing basis.

The single supplement is the premium charged to solo travelers who wish to occupy a whole room or cabin for themselves (alone at the hotel room, alone at the ship/yacht cabin).

In order to calculate this premium, we usually multiply half of the room rate by the number of nights. KALIMERA travel/event consultant will advise you about such issues.

Can I book my flights through KALIMERA?

We can certainly take care of your airfare bookings but honestly you would be receiving a better and instant quote if you purchased it online. This way, you will be able to control and monitor your flights on real time and would save time and money to better enjoy your whole trip. If, by any mean, you prefer us to do these airfare bookings, please feel free to email us at info@kalimeratravel.com.

Children can travel on a KALIMERA trip?

Absolutely! We design a variety of trips to meet the needs of families traveling with children. Each trip has a minimum age for children to attend based on the nature of inclusive services of each departure. In most of our trips, everybody can attend a great number of activities and share the fun!

What taxes and fees are included in each purchase?

We do our best to include all the mandatory taxes and fees charged by each property and vendor in the final price for each KALIMERA trip or event. However, if there are any taxes and fees that are not included, we will mention this on the Inclusions/Exclusions tab.

Can KALIMERA design a customized travel experience for our group and our special interests?

That’s what we mostly do. Please visit both group & experience sections or contact us at +30 2103000155/info@kalimeratravel.com to start working on this together.

Why is a customized trip better than travelling in a group with people that I don’t know?

On a customized trip, you decide when to travel, where to go and what you want to experience. A customized trip is especially designed for you to exactly match your plans & interests.

Group travels have a fixed schedule (when & where to go, what to see, etc) and you must follow a specific day by day program. You are not allowed to change or adjust anything without prior notice and approval.

Does KALIMERA have a B2B (business to business) department? My travel agent can contact you on behalf of me?

And, what if my organization/company is planning an incentive trip or major event in Greece? Do you handle such arrangements?

We have a dedicated B2B team of corporate travel & events professionals to provide you with those extra tips for your next big trip/event in Greece. KALIMERA has already established and continuously enriches long-term relationships with quality travel & other business companies in the world. Working with your travel agent and or your organization would be great at any time.

Is there any amount of deposit that needs to be paid in order to book with KALIMERA?

A minimum deposit needs to be paid to initiate the booking process. Once confirmed, the balance has to be paid as per our payment policy and standard terms and conditions of bookings. In case of events or peak season bookings, 100% payment may be necessary at time of booking.

What is the physical demands level on KALIMERA packages & services? Is it hard to attend some of the activities/experiences?

KALIMERA programs are planned to offer the maximum joy and the true feeling of Greek hospitality. For different types of travelers and explorers, we have divides our offerings in four (4) physical demand levels:

- Easy level consists of programs/services that may include remote locations with light physical activity. Most people no matter their age can participate.

- Moderate level programs/services may include remote locations, walks and treks for a bit more than usual and activities such as rafting, biking, snorkeling, etc. Participants should be in good physical condition to enjoy the most of it.

- Difficult level has to do with remote locations and demanding activities such as horseback riding, long trekking at uneven trails, etc. Participants should be in very good physical condition.

- Extreme level is all about experiencing the most remote locations in harsh environments or high altitudes. Superior physical as well as excellent mental condition is a must in order to participate.

We usually provide extra free time in most of our programs. You can either choose having a relaxed program or you can choose to have a tight schedule of daily activities.

Please be aware that during the hot summer days, temperature in Greece can reach up to 40+ Celsius or 105+ Fahrenheit! And, if you are visiting an island or a traditional village you may have to walk up/down the narrow streets or quite few stairs to get around. This could be a small challenge for most travelers.

It is very important to advise us in advance about any accessibility or other worries you may have. This way, we will be able to recommend a smooth and suitable program that will make you feel comfortable and worry-free.

Can I book through kalimeratravel.com website, or should I call and book over the phone?

Both are mostly welcomed. When you submit your enquiry though our website, a professional travel/events member of the KALIMERA team will contact you within three business days to confirm availability and status of your request. Alternatively, you may also call us at +30 2103000155

After reservation, what type of documents do I receive?

You will receive a detailed program which includes your itinerary, information about your stay and our office/guide contact details along with any confirmation codes (if needed).

Any other tickets or vouchers for ferries/museums/etc. needed, they will be at the hotel reception or will be given by our partners at the destinations.

July seems to be a really good choice as well. It’s not that crowded and you can find yourself partying at the beach bar or even reading your book and listening to the sea waves. You can have fun and relax. This is what visiting the Greek islands during July all is about.

You should definitely visit Greece on either June or September. These two months are an excellent choice in terms of warm (not too hot) weather, privacy at the beaches and by far the greatest value for money offering.

May and October also offer a unique combination of good weather (average temperatures around 20+ Celsius/50+ Fahrenheit), a feeling of escaping out of everything, the best accommodation options at the best price and a chance to come closer with the locals. Visiting the Greek islands during May or October gives you the true taste of Greece. This is KALIMERA’s favorite choice but remember that we’ve been there for many many times and we may have different criteria!

From November to April, the weather will be cool but not very cold and really quite pleasant. It will be a little challenging to get to some of the smaller Greek islands because of the limited ferry schedules. But if you are about to visit the mainland or the bigger Greek islands, you will definitely enjoy unknown places, a spectacular scenery and you will come closer to the friendly locals.

Why prices vary on May than on August?

This depends on the so called seasonality. High season in Greece is usually July and August. June & September is Middle season while all other months are mostly considered to be low season (excluding public/national holidays). Prices vary as they are linked to the high or low demand. When demand is high, prices of our suppliers go up. When demand is low, prices of our suppliers go down.

What about visas? Do I need a visa to travel to Greece?

Each and every traveler should be in possession of his/her valid and signed passport.  Passports must remain valid for at least three months after the end of the trip. United States of America citizens do not require a visa to enter or travel to Greece. Citizens of other countries should contact the appropriate authorities (Consulates/Embassies) to specify all necessary details during the preparation phase of their trip.

Should I purchase travel insurance?

Definitely. We strongly suggest you to purchase a travel insurance package that best fits your needs.

Do Greeks speak English?

Everybody speaks English. Greeks are also known for their extra friendly and alternative methods of showing you around or answering to your questions. It is a mix of English, Greek and a super funny body language as well!

Also, the majority of signs (roads/sights/shops/restaurants/etc) throughout Greece are displayed in English rather than in Greek!

What kind of accommodation does KALIMERA use?

We only use the best accommodation options throughout Greece. This includes boutique hotels, traditional settlements and guest houses with an authentic character!  We always focus on quality and excellent service before signing a contract with each property manager. Most of our programs are flexible enough so that you can choose the property style and the room type (double room, family room, junior suite, etc) and customize your stay according to your needs.

What is the difference between Seat in Coach (S.I.C.) and private transportation/transfer?

Seat in Coach basis (S.I.C.) means that you and your party are being transferred from point A to point B by a coach along with others. Please notice that there could be delays due to flight delays or any other unpredictable factor.

Private transportation/transfer means that you and your party are being transferred from point A to point B by a vehicle without sharing with others.

What transportation means are used for transfers between the islands?

For going to/from or between the islands, KALIMERA uses safe and comfortable ferries while catamarans/high-speed boats/hydrofoils are also available from specific destinations and times. Traveling to the Greek islands or doing a Greek island hopping by ferry is fun and you will definitely enjoy.

Many islands also have airports and the domestic air routes are mostly operated by a modern fleet of jet planes Boeings, Airbuses, British Aerospace Avro RJ100’s and some twin engine turboprop planes like the ATR72. Traveling to the Greek islands by plane is easy and fast.

What kind of buses, coaches, mini-vans, etc does KALIMERA use?

We use luxurious fully air conditioned vehicles in all KALIMERA transfers or transportations. And, it’s our policy to always provide buses, coaches, mini-vans with the extra capacity in order to guarantee some extra space for you and for your handbags.

What should I do to avoid getting sea sick?

Well, this actually depends on the weather conditions on the day you are about to travel by ferry or you are about to experience an on board tour/cruise/sail/etc. Ionian Sea’s waters are mostly calm and winds are rarely strong but traveling to the Aegean Sea -especially during windy August- could be something to consider. The use of a ferry line instead of a hydrofoil line could also be a good idea (ferries are bigger so you will feel more comfortable during heavy sea). The best thing to do is to select an itinerary with limited sea travelling time and contact your physician in advance to give you some extra advices.

What types of restaurants and meals are included in KALIMERA offerings?

We have personally selected traditional taverns and upscale restaurants to give you the true taste of Greece’s gastronomy treasures. As per each program inclusions, you will be able to enjoy a variety of fresh and authentically cooked meals as well as to try some of the finest local spirits and beverages.

Informal and smart casual clothing is appropriate almost everywhere and anytime in Greece. For special occasions, you could also bring clothing that you would normally wear in your country. Be aware that in order to enter to a church or a monastery in Greece, men should wear long pants (rather than shorts) and women should wear a skirt or dress of at least knee-height and a top that covers their shoulders.

Credit Card payments or cash payments are accepted in Greece?

Credit card payments are accepted in most shops and restaurants at the major cities/popular tourist destinations throughout Greece. But when you are visiting smaller villages/islands or you want to buy a product or service from a local shop, it will be a challenge to pay by credit card. Therefore, you should carry some Euros in cash with you and always remember to get a receipt for the purchased items.

What is the baggage-carrying policy for domestic flights in Greece?

Rules are being updated frequently so you should contact your personal KALIMERA travel consultant once you have finalized your plans. The common policy is that economy class passengers are allowed to check 1 piece of baggage (up to 44pounds/20 kilos) and carry on board the plane 1 item of hand luggage (up to 17pounds/8kilos and  measuring up to 21/15/7inches or 55/40/20 cm). Business class travelers are usually allowed to check 2 pieces of heavier baggage and carry 1 more on board the plane.

What about using my mobile/cell phone in Greece?

Mobile phone coverage in Greece is very good. Even remote places have strong signal and you can speak loud and clear as long as your device is compatible with GSM network.

We strongly suggest that you should contact your telecommunications provider before your trip to check compatibility issues and possible charges that may occur.

Alternatively, you could just buy a SIM card (that’s a Greek mobile number with only 5 Euros) and inexpensive pre-paid cards for calls and 3G internet and install it on your mobile phone when you are in Greece.

I need to use my laptop and be able to have internet access during my trip in Greece. Possible?

The great majority of hotels that are included in KALIMERA offerings provide wireless internet access.

Alternatively, there are many internet cafes and wireless hot spot points where you may access the internet or use an inexpensive business service to transfer your favorite photos and videos to a usb flash drive/memory stick/dvd, etc.

Be aware of the electricity compatibility issues (adopter/transformer) as described in other F.A.Q. section.

Do I need an adapter or a transformer to use my electrical/electronic devices in Greece?

The electricity voltage in Greece is 220 V/50 Hz and the plugs are of type F. Although It wouldn't be a problem to purchase an adapter and transformer of any kind in Greece, we suggest that you should make a purchase in your country.
